In 2003, Longjing Microelectronics was established by introducing 11 members of the American Intel team, with the investment from Shanghai Alliance Investment Ltd. The company is dedicated to the development and industrialization of core processor IP and consumer terminal application SOC chips and systems based on domestic integrated circuit processes (e.g., HongLi Semiconductor, Huahong Semiconductor). The team successfully developed the first domestically produced 32-bit MIPS high-performance microprocessor, leading MPEG2 multimedia encoders and decoders, DVB-C/DVB-S channel decoding IP, audio encoders and decoders, and sound processing processors based on independent microarchitecture. This has resulted in core IP and SOC chip products centered around their independent microprocessors and audio-video codec technology, which were successfully applied to digital set-top boxes and digital media players.

In 2005, the company collaborated with institutions such as the Institute of Computing, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Peking University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Zhejiang University to jointly promote the development and industrial application of the domestic audio-video codec standard AVS. Longjing, as the core unit of the standardization group, took on the chip development and productization work for AVS standards. The company, in collaboration with Academician Gao, completed the AVS encoder algorithm and chip development, as well as the development and industrial application of AVS decoder microarchitecture and chips.

• Successfully developed the first domestically produced chip for terrestrial high-definition video digital set-top boxes supporting AVS/AVS+.

In addition, the company developed multimedia terminal application SOC chips for digital home applications, such as digital photo frames and MP4 players, achieving large-scale applications. Simultaneously, the company expanded its intelligent display driver product line to meet the needs of China's strategic new industries. This led to the successful development of AMOLED panel driver chips (Driver IC) and display timing control chips (TCON), which were applied to products of Hehui Optoelectronics. To address the requirements of new portable storage applications, the company developed USB2.0-based Flash memory main control SOC chips, achieving mass production. The cumulative shipment of the main chip products reached 10 million units.

In 2012, with the advancement of China's major national project for domestic CPU and SOC chips, Longjing's team authorized relevant processor design technologies and IP, digital audio-video codec technologies and IP, video display processing technologies and IP to Shanghai Zhaoxin. The chip development team at Longjing provided preliminary assistance to Zhaoxin in developing the Elite-1000 high-definition smart set-top box chip, which was then mass-produced for applications in cable television services, such as Eastern Cable and Zhejiang Radio and Television. In order to consolidate chip development resources, the Longjing chip development team merged with Zhaoxin to establish a digital media SOC product line. They subsequently developed smart set-top box SOC chips such as ZX2000, ZX1800, and ZX2800. The Longjing team was primarily responsible for China's independent TVOS operating system, middleware, system solutions, and product development. As a standard core unit, they led the technical proposals and system implementations of TVOS versions 1.0 and 2.0, and participated in the research and industrialization of multiple national major projects for basic chip technologies. Their efforts facilitated the implementation and industrial application of the TVOS system and digital media terminals in cable television service providers such as Shanghai OCN Cable Network and Jiangsu JSCN Cable Network. The cumulative shipment of multimedia terminals exceeded 5 million units.

After 2020, due to international trade tensions and restrictions on technology transfers, the core chip supply chain for domestic cable television businesses was significantly impacted. There was a pressing need for multimedia video terminal SOC chip products and solutions that were developed entirely within the country to supplement market demand. Additionally, multimedia satellite internet systems based on low Earth orbit satellites required supporting satellite receiver terminal chips. The Longjing team embarked on a second entrepreneurial venture by establishing "LQSilicon," an integrated circuit company. Leveraging their existing technical expertise and integrating industry resources, they focused on the development of microprocessor technology based on the open-source RISC-V architecture. They also worked on core SOC chips and solutions tailored to industrial application scenarios in the "satellite-cloud-edge-terminal" ecosystem within the realm of intelligent media computing.
